Our Horses

Our Halflinger

Born: 2019

Breeder: Emily Bambridge, UK

We started our Haflinger breeding adventure by purchasing Solaris in 2019.

At the Breed Show in 2022, Solaris was crowned young stock champion, best British bred and overall reserve supreme champion with his mother ‘Ramba Zamba’ overall supreme champion.

He is our pride and joy and stands at stud now that he is  fully registered with the Society. At 15hh, he is an impressive boy.

Passport name: Dolly (Skorpion x Doris)

Born: 2009

Breeder: Thöni Weber, Pfunds, Austria

Dolly is a stunning broodmare who has already produced a number of exceptional offspring. She is mum to our foals Dahlia and Daisy (Sire:  Alpenstrom, Hazel Thompson & Emily Bambridge, England).

We are expecting a new arrival in April 2023.

Passport name: Frühlingsfee (Sternwächter x Fleurette (S: Winterstein))

Born: 2017

Breeder: Fam. Huber-Monz, Austria

Fee is a most exquisite and elegant mare with a rich chestnut coat and a gentle nature. She is our second broodmare, who had her first foal Alpenprinz in 2021 (sire: ‘Alpenstrom’ (owner: Hazel Thompson & Emily Bambridge, England).

We are expecting a new arrival in April 2023.

Passport name:  Riedel Daisy (Dolly x Alpenstrom)

Born: 12.02.2021

Breeder:  B & G Riedel

Daisy is Dahlia’s half-sister and the first foal sired by Alpenstrom. She arrived during a blizzard and is turning out to be quite a character. Little Miss Independent is getting into all sorts of trouble but also loves a cuddle and greets you every time you walk by.

She will be staying with us.

Passport name:  Riedel Alpenprinz (Fruehlingsfee x Alpenstrom) [sold 2021]

Born: 25.02.2021

Breeder: B & G Riedel

Prinz is Fee’s first foal, sired by Alpenstrom, and Daisy’s half-brother. He is the sweetest and most beautiful foal, with wonderful markings. A little more shy then Daisy, but the two of them are already playing most of the day (other than feeding, sleeping and annoying mum). He will definitely grow into a gorgeous and affectionate riding companion, and make somebody very happy.

Passport name: Hobart Dahlia (Sultan x Dolly)

Born: 2020

Breeder: Emily Bambridge, UK

Little Dahlia is Dolly’s current foal, and the second foal we purchased from Emily, alongside her mum Dolly. She is not just exceptionally beautiful, but also curious, playful and cheeky, and always looking for a scratch. She will certainly grow into a beautiful Haflinger mare with plenty of potential.

Sold in December 2020.

Other family members I

Passport name: Aharas Thunder (Robe Thunder x Aharas Sheamar)

Born: 2013

Breed: Connemara

Breeder: P Kelleher, Cork, Ireland

Beautiful Chico joined us as a 6-month old, very green foal from Ireland. I fell in love with him watching an online video, and did what you must never do, bought him unseen and without vetting. He is now grown into a versatile all-rounder who enjoys a range of activities, particularly hacking. An independent spirit who’s happy to be by himself but never says no to a play-fight with others.

Passport name:Ira-Harris of Craignetherty

Born: 2011

Breed: Highland (breeder: Hugh Duncan)

Harris, who looks like the ultimate war horse with his stunning multi-coloured fur and long mane, can be a big baby pretending to be scared of a mouse, but ultimately he just likes to eat and relax as much as possible. He is also a real ‘dude’ and family man as he prefers his comrades to be around. Best known for constantly on the lookout for treats, and by those involved in his care, watch out for him throwing over full wheelbarrows and buckets. As a good-doer, we have to watch how much grass he can have, but he is a real darling and the most comfortable horse to ride. You can even trust him with beginners, despite his impressive build.

Passport name: Cairn’s Charm

Born: 2002

Breed: Highland (Yellow Dun)

Toffee is our charity horse and problem child. Exceptionally well-bred and beautifully build, we obtained her under difficult circumstances, living wild in the remote Scottish Highlands until we adopted her, and already in foal as a yearling. She taught us patience and commitment, and has adjusted to us very well over time. However, any stranger (including vets, farriers, dog walkers and bikers) or unexpected events can lead to panic attacks. She is therefore allowed to be a companion to our other Highlands, and left to enjoy grazing most of the time. She produced a lovely foal, Islay, in 2004, who sadly passed away in 2019.

Passport name: Rona Von Timaru

Born: 2003

Breed: Part-bred Highland

Rona came to use together with Toffee, and was a member of the same wild-living herd. Still a foal when she joined us, she had not undergone the same traumatic experiences and is our most reliable and trusted steed. Rona has given us many wonderful memories, from beach rides to long-distance hacking holidays through the Highlands. With her stunning looks, she always is an eye-catcher and favourite of many visitors.

The Retirement Squad

We believe that horses who have given us years of enjoyment, fun and loyalty deserve to be looked after and treated with care until the day comes to say the final good-bye.

Currently retired or semi-retired (i.e. occasionally used as lead-rein ponies for children from friends and family) are:

Passport name: Yapra Flushing Meadow

Born: 1991

Breed: Shetland (Orkney)

Jo-Jo is our hairy ‘oldie’ and was our daughter’s childhood friend and first pony. He is the most trouble of the lot, disrespecting electric fences and rules as much as possible. Currently, he is a companion to Solaris, and clearly calling the shots.

Born: 1997/1998

Breed:  Welsh (Sec A)

Three Welsh half-sisters were the founding sisters of our adventure, and taught our children how to ride and fall off with more or less grace. All full of character, they educated us extensively on the subject of ‘how to train your human’.

Sadly, Pipsi passed in 2021, and Nutmeg in 2022.
